Towing Company Hoboken NJ: the questions we hear most, answered the way the dispatcher answers them
Residents ask about price, time and low garages. Garage operators ask about insurance. Restaurant owners and contractors ask about vans and accounts. Everything is below, in plain words.
What Hoboken drivers, garages and businesses want to know about our towing company
Our trucks, our drivers, our dispatcher; licensed and insured; $149 by phone or $129 online with the miles read out first; city impounds are not ours; accounts for businesses that tow often; no membership.
Is Towing Company Hoboken NJ an actual towing company or just a phone line?
An actual company. The trucks are ours and sit in our Linden yard between jobs, the drivers are our employees, and the person who picks up (908) 666-3168 is our dispatcher. We never forward your call to an outside truck.
How long does it take you to get to Hoboken?
About 32 minutes from the yard when the Turnpike Extension is moving, coming off at Exit 14C and up through Jersey City to Observer Highway. Often a company truck is already in Hudson County, and the dispatcher quotes from that truck's position instead.
What will a tow in Hoboken cost me?
$149 for dispatch and hook-up, or $129 if you book online, plus mileage to where the car is going, which you hear before a truck is assigned. A jump, tire change, lockout or fuel drop is a single flat price. The pricing page has every line.
The city towed my car. Can you get it back for me?
No. Hoboken's parking enforcement tows and impounds are run by the city, and only the city can release the car. Once it is released, if it will not start or you want it taken to a shop, we can pick it up from there like any other job.
There is a boot on my car. Can your driver take it off?
No, and nobody should. Booting is a city matter and the boot comes off only through the city. We can help once the car is free, whether it needs a jump, a tire or a tow.
Can your truck get my car out of a low residential garage?
Yes, though the truck itself usually stays outside. Most Hoboken garages have a clearance bar too low for a flatbed, so the driver brings the car to the entrance on dollies and loads it on the street. Tell the dispatcher the garage and the level when you call.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. A garage or building that wants the certificate before letting our truck in can ask the desk for it. The driver also photographs your car before loading and after drop-off, so any question has a record behind it.
Can you tell me which truck is coming?
The dispatcher tells you the truck type and what the door says, and the driver phones as he comes into Hoboken. If a towing company cannot describe its own truck to you, it probably is not its truck.
My street is too narrow for a tow truck. What happens?
That is normal in Hoboken. The driver may use a wheel-lift, which needs less room, or roll the car on dollies to a wider spot such as a corner or a loading zone. He decides before arriving, based on the street you name.
Do you set up accounts for Hoboken businesses?
Yes, for garage operators, restaurants, contractors, property managers and campus or company fleets. An account gives a direct line, booked windows, a rate sheet and one statement a month on net terms. Ask the desk or use the contact page.
My delivery van died behind my restaurant. Can you tow a van?
Yes. Vans, box trucks and catering trucks go on the right-sized truck, a flatbed or a medium wrecker depending on the weight. Tell the dispatcher the make and model and we plan around your loading hours.
I came back from the train and my car will not start. Tow or jump?
Try the jump first. Our driver brings a jump pack to the lot near the Terminal and charges one flat price. If the battery will not hold a charge, the tow is added right there with no second callout.
Do you charge more late at night or on a holiday?
No. The price list has no column for the hour or the date, and the people working at 3 a.m. are the same company.
Will you tow an electric or all-wheel-drive car properly?
Yes. EVs and AWD cars ride on the flatbed with all four wheels off the ground, which is what their makers call for. Tell the dispatcher the drivetrain so the right truck comes.
Can I ride along to the shop?
Yes, one passenger can ride in the cab at no charge. In a city where you probably do not have a second car, that matters.
I broke down on the Turnpike Extension on the way home to Hoboken. Can you come?
On the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway the shoulder itself is served by the Turnpike Authority's authorized garages; book with us anyway, and once the authorized truck has the car off the highway we take it from the exit or the garage's lot to the shop or driveway you choose, at the same flat quoted price.
My car stalled near the Lincoln Tunnel. Who do I call?
On the helix and the tunnel ramps, the Port Authority clears stalled cars. Once your car is on a Weehawken street or back in Hoboken, call us and our truck comes to it directly.
Where will you take my car?
Anywhere you choose: a mechanic in Hoboken, a body shop in Jersey City, a dealer, your own driveway or a relative's garage. We have no storage lot, so the car never goes somewhere you did not ask for.
Do I need AAA or another membership?
No. You pay the booking fee and the miles. The itemized receipt shows our company name, so you can send it to your insurer or roadside plan for reimbursement.
What payment does the driver take?
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay and cash. Account holders get a monthly statement instead.
Is it cheaper to book online?
Yes, by $20. The online booking fee is $129 instead of $149. If the car is blocking a street or a garage ramp, call instead; it is faster.
Are you hiring drivers?
Yes. Flatbed and wheel-lift drivers, owner-operators and roadside providers can see the current openings.
Still have a question? The dispatcher answers them free at any hour.
